Happy Groundhog Day, Feast of Brigid, Imbolc, or what have you. In honor of Brigid, who was herself a poetess, it’s the Bloggers (Silent) Poetry Reading day. And to celebrate intelligent women, here is my favorite from Emily Dickinson.
Some keep the Sabbath going to church;
I keep it staying at home,
With a bobolink for a chorister,
And an orchard for a dome.
Some keep the Sabbath in surplice;
I just wear my wings,
And instead of tolling the bell for church,
Our little sexton sings.
God preaches, — a noted clergyman, –
And the sermon is never long;
So instead of getting to heaven at last,
I’m going all along!

Posted 03 Feb 2007 at 2:34 PM ¶I hope you had a good Imbolc ?!?
I have a question for you on Hidcote, I purchased the pattern and
have tried enlarging the charts with a photocopier. It doesn’t work. Is it possible to get the charts as seperate files that I, and no doubt others with spectacles, can enlarge easily? If not I’ll do it myself, but just thought I’d ask first.
Many thanks
Judy
Oh, that’s lovely! But then I’d miss knitting through the sermon.
